Jazz is sometimes called the soundtrack of love or the music that relaxes the soul. Jazz can also revitalize the soul as well depending on who you listen to. Jazz is a very American art form that reaches across a lot of boundaries and touches people from all walks of life. No matter who you are or what you have done in your life jazz is so deeply imbedded in American culture that there is a very good chance you have heard jazz music and just did not realize it. Jazz has made for some colorful and interesting characters over the years and you can have a piece of jazz history encapsulated on your wall when you purchase a jazz poster.

Many fans of jazz like to find old jazzfest posters that advertise the upcoming performances in some of the largest jazz festivals in the country and put them up as their own tribute to the pioneers of jazz and the people that are just coming up and keeping jazz going as an art form. Jazz has mixed with a lot of other music forms in the past and many different jazz musicians find it easy to run in different musical circles.

John Coltrane posters are big among jazz fans and as impressive and important as a Coltrane poster is it is just as important to invest in a few Miles Davis posters as well. Miles Davis posters cross many musical barriers as Davis was as well known in the blues circles as he was in the jazz circles. People that have a true understanding and appreciation of music can really put together the different forms of music and know the connections. A jazz poster collector will buy a Louis Armstrong poster just as easily as they will order Glenn Miller posters. Music is all one big language and it doesn't matter how you choose to express it just as long as you understand the meaning.

Jazz is a perfect example of how blues, big band, rock, and gospel can all meet at one point and still make sense to fans of all the music genres. As was said before, you probably have heard and even enjoyed jazz music in the past and never even realized it. That is the beauty of music.

People can put up a Mingus poster or a Herbie poster just as easily as any big band poster and have a collection that makes sense to the music student. That is the thing about jazz, it seems to attract people that really want to study music and find out how the different pieces work together. There certainly is nothing wrong with taking such a rich hybrid like jazz and studying it to understand how other forms of music interact. If you really take the time to break it all down you quickly come to realize that jazz, in its purest form, is just a free form of many other American forms of music and that is why jazz always seems to be able to tie the different music forms together in one nice and neat package.
